My Newest App Obsession: Costa Mesa Connect

As many people know, I've created a monthly newsletter called The Community Connection Project to share exciting stories about people and places and things in our local community of Orange County. Last month we featured Habitat for Humanity and the amazing things they're doing to make a difference locally and on a larger scale.

What I’m hoping for as the newsletter continues to grow is that friends and neighbors will write back with wonderful nuggets of wisdom. This month, a Westside Costa Mesa resident named Steve messaged me and said 'In your next newsletter maybe you could tell people about a great app that the City of Costa Mesa has called Costa Mesa Connect.' after doing a little research I found it to be VERY useful and a smart, time saving app to share with all my readers.

Below is a short snip it on what makes the Costa Mesa Connect app great and how you can benefit from using it more regularly.

Keeping Costa Mesa Clean

Steve was quick to point out this application. Costa Mesa is a beautiful community. Those of us who live here and enjoy its pristine surroundings will find the GRAFFITI REPORTER a unique and helpful feature to keep our streets and buildings looking clean. Costa Mesa Connect uses GPS that allows users to take a picture of graffiti in real time and send it to their graffiti hotline. Users will receive an email with a confirmation number verifying the request has been received and another confirmation email when the graffiti has been removed.

Steve said, 'I have been using it for graffiti in Vista Park with great results.'

Other Helpful Features

  • If you want to stay up-to-date up with city news, council agendas, and upcoming events, the app is the perfect resource to keep you in the loop!
  • Are you a Netflix and chill kind of person? The app has info on the local television stations and what channels you should channel-surf through. Don’t worry, if you have AT&T U-verse, DirecTV, no matter the provider; the app helps you navigate your way to the local channels in Costa Mesa.
  • Are you an entrepreneur? Want to make it official? If you want to launch your own business and you live in Costa Mesa, the app makes it super simple to apply for your biz license.
  • If you’re looking to host a garage sale, you might be surprised that it requires a permit. Costa Mesa Connect has several online service options to fulfill your permit needs.
  • If you have something that you would like to report, the app provides you with a list of options like illegal fireworks, garage conversion, mobile or street vending, and many more illegal acts.
  • What’s the beef? You can also stay up to date on what your neighbors have reported such as landscaping issues, traffic reports, and more.

As you can see, the Costa Mesa Connect app is a cool and convenient way to report problems, find fun events; and, as it grows, has the potential to change the place Costa Mesians call home into a safer and more connected community. If you have a smart phone, I highly recommend downloading the app.

By the way, what I love about Costa Mesa is it is all-inclusive, the city was brilliant in their design. The app is available in 17 different languages so that it is helpful to everyone in the Costa Mesa community. Your messages will automatically translate to English and back to your preferred language so that you are able to communicate with the city staff.
